"PORTUGAL - ALENTEJO

The Alentejo is a region full of history, magnificent landscapes and sea along 170kms.

It is recommended that you discover the quiet beauty of this region where you will find a very welcoming people. It is worth visiting Castelo de Vide and Marvão, Elvas which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vila Viçosa, Monsaraz and Évora. They all have in common wide streets lined with shining pavement, with carefully whitewashed houses and the friezes on the doors and windows decorated in strong shades of blue or yellow. In the streets, leafy trees offer their shade to those who wish to chat while the time drifts slowly away.
For those with their head on the moon, it is a must to discover the Alqueva Lake Observatory, located in the middle of the Alqueva Dark Sky Reserve, in the Alentejo. This is one of the most recent infrastructures that allows you to observe the stars.
At mealtimes, it's difficult to choose because the local gastronomy is rich and tasty. The basis of its preparation is usually pork, lamb and bread, the most abundant foods in the region, flavoured with herbs that grow abundantly such as coriander, mint, pennyroyal and oregano.
For the little ones, don't miss Badoca Safari Park and Fluviário de Mora, an aquarium dedicated to freshwater ecosystems. On the Alentejo coast, don't miss the Vicentine Route, part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, where you will discover a network of 400 km of trails divided into three parts: the Historical Trail, the Fishermen's Trail and the Circular Trails. Here you will find magnificent beaches, isolated and almost deserted, with endless sand and where you can practice some water sports like bodyboard, windsurf, surf or kitesurf.

  Moments in My Country

Evasion, sensations, adventure, treasures, tasting, emotions, passion, love, romance, pampering, celebration, relaxation, well-being, freedom, dream, health, leisure, are words that make the Portuguese come out inside and give wings to the discovery of the surprises that our country has to unveil. The thematic programmes "Moments in My Country" are therefore dedicated to all these more appealing and experiential facets, which lead to enriching content in the four corners of little/large Portugal. These programmes reflect the thousand reasons that our country has to make us repeatedly happy, alone or with family and friends, in the time we dedicate to leisure and discovery.
